Ascent Aid products and educational materials are designed to support medical preparedness in climbing, outdoor, and remote environments. The information provided by Ascent Aid Limited, including information contained in the CruxCard, on AscentAid.com, in product materials, and in other educational resources, is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.

Not a Substitute for Medical Training or Care

Ascent Aid products and educational materials are not a substitute for professional medical training, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency medical services.

Users should only perform medical procedures and use medical equipment within their level of training and competence. When appropriate and reasonably available, seek professional medical care and activate emergency medical or rescue services.

Use of Medical Equipment

Medical supplies and equipment should be used according to their intended purpose, manufacturer instructions, applicable warnings, and the user's level of training.

Before each objective, users should inspect their kit and replace any supplies that are expired, damaged, opened, contaminated, missing, or otherwise compromised.

The inclusion of a medical product or technique in an Ascent Aid kit, CruxCard, or other educational material does not mean that its use is appropriate in every circumstance.

CruxCard™

CruxCard is a compact field reference intended to help users recall and organize basic medical information in climbing and remote environments. Because of its compact format, it cannot provide comprehensive medical instruction or address every possible injury, patient, environment, or circumstance.

CruxCard should be used as a reference alongside appropriate medical training and sound judgment—not as a replacement for either. The information presented in CruxCard has been developed using established first aid and emergency medical principles and informed by multiple educational sources, including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) textbooks, curricula, and training materials. CruxCard is intended as a concise field reference and does not reproduce or replace the comprehensive instruction provided by these sources or by formal medical training.

Outdoor and Climbing Risk

Climbing, mountaineering, and other outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including serious injury and death. Medical emergencies in remote or vertical environments may involve circumstances beyond the capabilities of any first aid kit.

Possessing or using an Ascent Aid product does not eliminate these risks or guarantee a successful medical, rescue, or evacuation outcome.

No Guarantee of Outcome

Medical emergencies vary significantly based on the patient, injury or illness, environment, available resources, responder training, evacuation time, and other factors.

Ascent Aid Limited makes no guarantee that use of its products or educational materials will prevent injury, deterioration, disability, or death, or result in any particular medical outcome.

Emergency Situations

In a serious or life-threatening emergency, contact the appropriate emergency medical or rescue service as soon as circumstances reasonably allow.

Nothing provided by Ascent Aid should be interpreted as a recommendation to delay professional medical evaluation, treatment, rescue, or evacuation when such assistance is necessary and available.

Send Safer™

Send Safer™ is more than a tagline. It represents the principle behind Ascent Aid: climbing will always involve risk, but preparation, training, sound judgment, and the right equipment can help climbers manage that risk more responsibly.

Sending safer does not mean eliminating risk or guaranteeing a safe outcome. It means understanding the objective, recognizing your limits, developing the skills to respond when something goes wrong, and carrying equipment appropriate for the environment.

Ascent Aid exists to make medical preparedness a more intentional part of the climbing system—just like the rest of the gear on your rack.

Train. Prepare. Climb within your abilities. Look out for your partners. Send Safer.™
